Hey Key Clubbers!
Thank you to everyone who came to our second meeting this past Thursday. We had a blast making appreciation cards for the Plano Police Department. We made 325 out of our 364 goal, so if you want to make some at home and give it to one of the Key Club officers at school, please feel free to. At our next meeting, we'll be writing the actual notes in the cards and then we'll deliver them! For everyone who wasn't able to make it to our meeting, this is the link for the PowerPoint and the information we covered: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B668FBmDY0sZc0tMSjJDLXk1bk0/view?usp=sharing. A couple reminders about upcoming due dates....
Lastly, we've received quite a few requests about volunteering opportunities other than what we've been presenting at the meetings. That's great, and we encourage it! However, we'd like to be able to review these opportunities first to see if they comply with Key Club International guidelines. If you would like to volunteer somewhere beyond what Key Club has offered and would like to receive hours for it, please fill out this Google Form at least one week before the event: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSehPPEPUzSpXKy8gk26_9Jhr3qEqUyQeQlLs43GEGUQWu_mlA/viewform. Even if you have already talked to an officer about your outside volunteering project, please fill out this form so we can have it on record. Thank you to everyone who's already begun volunteering! We will have our next meeting on October 6th (same time, location TBA). Yours in service, PSHS Key Club Officers

Hey Key Club, Our second Key Club meeting is tomorrow! Here are the details: WHAT: We will be going over a lot of the main information we covered last meeting for those who couldn't make it, with the addition of some additional volunteering events and fundraising. HOWEVER, we will also be embarking on a service project to create homemade cards for the City of Plano's policemen (according to the police chief's assistant, that's 364 policemen and policewomen!!). WHO: If you didn't come to our first meeting, you MUST come to this one to fulfill your monthly requirement. Even if you did come to our first meeting, you should come to our second one anyways! We will need all the help we can get making cards, so please feel free to invite any non-Key Clubbers who want to show their appreciation as well. WHEN/WHERE: Our meeting will be during 7th period and after school in room A117 (Ms. Arnold's room, still in the English hallway). NOTE: This is a different room from our last meeting. Our sponsor's projector is still not working, so we have temporarily moved it to this new location. WHY:
PLEASE bring any pens (Sharpies work best), markers, glue sticks, or other crafting supplies. If you don't have any supplies, no problem! If you don't have any artistic ability, that's also not a problem! We will be working with precut shapes, and if you don't feel comfortable doing anything too crafty, you can just fold and glue. See you tomorrow! We'll have hours forms printed for you guys. In order to get credit for attending this meeting, you must make at least five, approved cards. PSHS Key Club Officers The 70+ dog toys we made during our last meeting arrived at the Plano Animal Shelter, and the animals love them! Below is an email they sent us, thanking us for our donation.
Hey Key Clubbers! Thank you to everyone who came out to our first meeting!! Now that you know more about who we are and what we do, we hope you will consider becoming an official member of Key Club International. Again, we apologize for the technical difficulties of this past meeting (hopefully the projector in Ms. Clanton's room will be fixed by our next meeting!). If you would like to review what we went over or view the presentation in greater depth, here is the link to our PowerPoint: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B668FBmDY0sZSGlJTlJYdl9CVUk/view?usp=sharing. Several things to note:
In this meeting, the officers introduced ourselves, we discussed requirements of becoming a member and staying a member in good standing, talked about some upcoming volunteering opportunities, and made dog toys to donate to the Plano Animal Shelter. Everything we talked about can be found in the presentation linked above, but the most pressing event is the Plano Balloon Festival on September 24th. Our Kiwanis Club is giving us 16 spots to volunteer, and it would be great if we could fill up every single one. Volunteers will distribute child safety wrist bands near one of the entry gates, and assist with ticket taking at Gate 3. We still have 2 spots for the 5:30am-9:30am shift and 6 spots for the 4pm-9pm shift. Remember, you get a free entrance wrist band and parking pass if you volunteer. If you're interested in this opportunity, sign up at http://signup.com/go/SzpgMi. Finally, mark your calendars for our next meeting on September 15 - same time, same place. More details will be sent out soon. Yours in service, PSHS Key Club Officers Do these pictures look low quality and unprofessional to you?
They do to us as well! That's why we need a talented photographer as our new historian! If you possess this skill set, go ahead and apply to be an officer by September 22nd! |
